Tim the Lion Tamer’s witty lyricism and heartfelt indie folk expression has connected with millions of people worldwide. Born and raised in Malmö, Sweden, he has been compared to acts like Gregory Alan Isakov, Josh Ritter and Damien Rice.
He burst onto the scene in 2015, when his kitchen recording of the folk traditional “Hang Me, Oh Hang Me” astonishingly garnered over 1.5 million streams, earning him an opening gig for Josh Rouse that same year. Despite this early success, he chose an unconventional route by venturing into graphic design instead of further pursuing his musical success.
He returned to the scene in 2018 with two self-penned singles, “Dancer” and “Whistleblower,” which were released to critical acclaim. He was hailed as a “wonderfully talented songwriter” and “an embodiment of folk music’s expressive power.”
A series of tours across Sweden, Denmark, and Germany, highlighted by a standout performance at Haldern Pop in 2020, was followed by the release of the single "Cold Cold Ground" in 2022, alongside plans for a full-length album. But soon after, he faced significant personal ups and downs. A period marked by health issues and personal tragedy resulted in a hiatus from touring and postponement of his album release.
2024 is poised to be a year of resurgence for Tim the Lion Tamer. The release of his latest single “Half Past” not only signals his return to the music world, but also sets the stage for his highly anticipated debut album “Troublemakers”, slated for release in the fall.
